BEDFORD, TX — The HEB ISD Education Foundation is donating a record-breaking $105,000 to fund Empowered to Excel Grants, marking the largest grant award total in the Foundation’s history and significantly expanding support for innovative classroom learning across the district.
Each spring, HEB ISD teachers and administrators are invited to submit Empowered to Excel Grant proposals that introduce bold, innovative approaches to instruction. Grant recipients are selected through a competitive review process, with instructional impact, and student engagement serving as key criteria.
“The Empowered to Excel Grants Program is one of the Foundation’s most meaningful and transformative initiatives,” said Brad Parker, Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. “Thanks to the generosity of our community, we are proud to award a historic $105,000 in 2026 - funding ideas that directly enrich teaching and learning. On behalf of the Board, it is an honor to serve and support work that truly changes lives.”
In addition to the Empowered to Excel Grants, the HEB ISD Education Foundation supports the district through several signature initiatives:
· Awards of Excellence Ceremony – Held each spring, this event honors 34 high school seniors across 15 academic disciplines, along with the teacher mentors who inspired them.
· Empowered to Excel Grant Prize Patrol – Each May, Foundation representatives surprise grant recipients with a celebratory “prize patrol,” announcement on their campus. In 2026, the patrol will announce $105,000 in grants.
· New Professionals Luncheon – Each summer, the Foundation welcomes hundreds of new HEB ISD staff members, introducing them to the district while highlighting the Foundation’s mission and district impact.
